Fuel Cell Reactors for the Clean Cogeneration of Electrical Energy and Value-Added Chemicals

Abstract Fuel cell reactors can be tailored to simultaneously cogenerate value-added chemicals and electrical energy while releasing negligible CO 2 emissions or other pollution; moreover, some of these even “breathe in” poisonous gas as feedstock. Such clean cogeneration favorably offsets the fast depletion fossil fuel resources eases growing environmental concerns. These unique inherit advantages from cells: a high conversion efficiency selectivity. Compared with similar devices sandwich structures, have successfully “hit three birds one stone” by generating power, producing chemicals, maintaining eco-friendliness. In this review, we provide systematic summary on state art regarding key components, well typical reactions accomplished in reactors. Most strategies fall short reaching win–win situation that meets production demand concurrently addressing issues. The use cells (FCs) produce power without pollution has emerged promising direction. FC reactor been recognized due its “one stone hitting birds” merit, namely, efficient chemical production, generation, friendliness. for multidisciplinary perspectives effective utilization, pollutant treatment, far-reaching implications wider scientific community society. scope review focuses convert low-value reactants and/or industrial wastes cogenerating an environmentally friendly manner.
